Energy conservation and use of renewable energy is at the core of WWU’s sustainability goals and Climate Action Plan. Western is committed to reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050 as a signatory of the President’s Climate Commitment. As a result a 2005 student-led initiative, Western Washington University purchases Renewable Energy Credits to offset all of its carbon emissions from electrical consumption. WWU also offers two bachelors programs in Energy Studies.
